DOCS (Direct Observation of Clinical Skills)
What is a DOCS session?
It is a chance for direct observation of the core clinical skills of history taking, physical examination, and oral presentation. It will provide an opportunity for direct feedback of your skills.
You will receive three forms in your final week of the clerkship for evaluation of the three core clinical skills.
Although the DOCS sessions are required, the information will be solely used to provide timely, formative feedback on your clinical skills. This will not impact your final grade in any way.
How do the DOCS form work?
Each form will have a checklist for core clinical competency, a rating scale, and a section for specific feedback. It will be helpful for you to review the checklists on each form prior to your observation session.
